The Book of Mormon
The blockbuster London show, The Book of Mormon after coming direct
from a sell out season on Broadway has broken various box office records. The
enjoyable London show is the winner of 9 Tony awards which includes Best
Musical, Best Book, best Score and Best Director. The show has won huge
acclamations from people all across the globe and was a huge hit amongst the
classes and masses.
The creative team of South Park, the long running comedy, Trey
Parker and Matt Stone penned the show in collaboration with the co-creator of
hit musical Avenue Q, Robert Lopez. In the year 2010, the show made its debut
at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre on Broadway and went on becoming a great success.
The Book of Mormon enjoyed rave reviews from media and critics as
well along with a scintillating sell out US National Tour. The story of The
Book of Mormon is set against the backdrop of Salt Lake City and revolves
around two Mormon Elders who have been sent to Uganda for some missionary
duties.
On their arrival in a small African village, they have to face a lot
of hostility as their beliefs have been also challenged. They have to struggle
a lot in terms of mission, friendships and relationships. Some of the major
highlights of the show are chartbusting music, outstanding choreography and
spectacular production makes the show an enjoyable audio visual treat.
The two hours and thirty minutes show is recommended for 17+ as
there is some satirical and dark comedy not suitable for kids. The lead role of
Elder Price and Elder Cunningham are portrayed by Gavin Creel and Jared Gertner
along with the talented cast which comprises of Alexa Khadime. Under the superb
direction of Casey Nicholaw, the show is a must watch for theatre lovers.
